EMERSYN'S JOURNEY

Dr. Hal Dietz is a professor of pediatrics, an associate professor of medicine, and an assistant professor of neurological surgery at Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine. In this video, Dr. Dietz describes the characteristics of Loeys-Dietz Syndrome (“LDS”). Emersyn Ray Aurich, from Roxborough, CO passed away on July 25th, 2020 from a rare type and variance of LDS. In 2021, the Aurich family launched a memorial golf tournament to raise money and broaden the awareness of this rare syndrome. Dr. Dietz and his colleagues have recognized the importance of this added research targeting a specific group of individuals like Emersyn with a much higher risk of fatality. Dr. Dietz later describes the new jointed efforts and research with the Aurich family and Johns Hopkins in their journey to finding a cure.

The Emersyn Ray Memorial Golf Tournament is a fundraiser that has been established to raise awareness and donations for research to finding a cure for Loeys-Dietz Syndrome.
